Frequently Asked Questions

  • Question: Will everyone I interview with be members of the team that I’m going to join?

    • Answer: Your interview panel will likely consist of members from several different software teams including the team that you may join. We do this to provide you with more perspective from a variety of different software teams here at WHOOP.
  • Question: What kinds of technical sessions should I prepare for?

    • Answer:
      • For technical interviewing, we avoid using any leetcode/brainteaser style interview sessions in favor of technical exercises that are more practical and relevant to the day to day work. Depending on the stage, this may be some hands-on coding with system design concepts, technical discussions, or a mix of both. As each stage is confirmed, you will be provided with more information on exactly how to prepare as well as information on who you are meeting with.
      • Additionally, for full-time roles, our technical sessions are conducted live. This allows for real time collaboration with your interviewers. During these sessions we’ll be looking to hear how you think and solve problems, so thinking out loud and communicating actively will be helpful. Your interviewers will likely have questions around why you made certain decisions vs others in the technical session so be prepared to talk about your thought process.
  • Question: Am I allowed to use AI in the interview process?

    • Answer: We are an AI-forward company and are excited to drive an environment where AI tools can support the work we do every day. As a company, we do so with transparency and thoughtfulness. To that end, we are open to allowing the use of AI tools within the interview process. In order to do so, you must clearly disclose to your interviewer at the start of the session if you plan to use any AI-based tools. Your interviewer may ask follow-up questions as to which tools and for what purpose. Where applicable, your interviewer may say that AI tools are not necessary for that session. You will still be asked to speak to your work to show that you deeply understand any work that was AI-assisted. Feel free to reach out for any further questions, we’re also happy to send over the full copy of our AI interview policy.
  • Question: Will I need to create my own IDE for any software/coding interviews?

    • Answer We use a platform called Codility which allows for collaborative coding. At the start of your interview, your interviewers will share the codility link which will give you access to everything you’ll need to start the technical portion of the interview.
