Promotion Principles
At WHOOP, we strive to foster a culture of coaching, career development, and building strong feedback loops to help everyone grow. This section defines some principles and guidelines for growth between the defined career levels above. This document does not replace the importance that you and your manager have regular conversations about your short-term goals and long-term career development goals.
Not an exhaustive checklist - The career framework is not an exhaustive list of checkboxes that guarantee promotion. Promotions are an acknowledgment of the talent and impact you have consistently demonstrated at the next level over a sustained period of time. Promotions are also subject to departmental budget approval.
Evidence-based - Promotions are an acknowledgment of demonstrated, sustained impact at some of the next level. WHOOP does not promote based on the potential of impact or because we hope impact will happen.
Craft your own path - Everyone has their own strengths and weaknesses and, as such, crafts their own form of how they accomplish an impact. Performing at a level means that you are delivering results as defined in that level most of the time. This does not mean, however, that you cannot craft your own path toward promotion, whether by trading off some results for others or having an outsized impact in a particular area.
